September 26, 2010 Try to imagine being transported to a world full of witches, wizards and "munchkins." This is the story of Dorothy and her dog Toto who end up in the land of Oz, make new and strange friends, and have numerous adventures. Along the way they discover the meaning of courage, friendship, and love. This quintessential fairy tale is brought to the stage using a seamless blend of music, theatrical techniques, fabulous sets, props and magical tricks, designed to delight and entertain children of all ages. September 28, 2010 Jason picked up guitar at age 8 and started writing songs at 16, around the time he joined his first band. Country was a natural direction for him: "My parents always had country music on" he says. Jason is currently based in Nashville, TN and has been enjoying a successful run at the top of the Country music charts on both radio and CMT Canada for the past five years. October 2, 2010 Be a part of history! The festival is a two-day celebration of local stories, artists and playwrights. On October 2 at 2pm a reading of the play written by the winner of the "From the Page to the Stage Youth Playwrighting Contest". The contest held this spring, is open to youth in the area. The winner will spend the summer writing their play with a professional mentor to help them along the way. On October 2 at 8pm a reading of The Tank Range Project by Roger Shank and Jamie Robinson. A play about the expropriation of the Meaford Tank Range in 1942 and a modern day soldier. On October 3 at 2pm, a reading of an adaptation of Beautiful Joe by Michael O'Brien. Beautiful Joe is the story of a mongrel dog who is brutally mutilated and rescued by a loving family. Set in Meaford, The play is an adaptation of Margaret Marshall Saunders book of the same name. October 20, 2010 The first was a smash success and the sequel promises to be even better! The second annual Dragons' Den Meaford takes place in the Meaford Hall Opera House on Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 beginning at 7pm. Once again, aspiring local entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas for a chance to win seed money from members of a panel of five local business savvy Dragons. The concept is modeled after the popular CBC TV show and is aimed at promoting the recent Meaford Economic Development Strategy. Last year's debut resulted in two new Meaford business start-ups and over $31,000 cash and in-kind contributions to Meaford's business community. Dragons' Den Meaford generated a positive business news story for Meaford and created a far reaching buzz with some high profile coverage on CBC Radio and several regional media outlets.
